**Vellore, Tamil Nadu, January 17, 2025** – A 34-year-old software engineer, K. Rajesh, was arrested on Thursday for damaging a government bus in Keeraisathu village near Katpadi, Vellore. Rajesh, who works at a Chennai-based software firm, was home for the Pongal festival when the incident occurred.
According to police, an argument erupted between Rajesh and a group of villagers and the bus crew after the crew parked the bus and decided to sleep at a nearby anganwadi center instead of in the bus. Rajesh, angered by this, smashed the bus’s windshield.
The bus crew reported the incident to the Ponnai police, who arrested Rajesh. He has been charged under the Tamil Nadu Public Property (Prevention of Damage and Loss) Act, 1992, and remanded to Vellore Central Prison. An investigation is ongoing.
