**Thiruvananthapuram, January 17, 2025** – Kerala’s Kudumbashree Mission, a women-led community development initiative, will shift its focus to emerging sectors in 2025-26, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar announced in his policy address to the Kerala Assembly on Friday. The initiative will prioritize skill development programs in information technology (IT), artificial intelligence (AI), and green energy.
Kudumbashree, a cornerstone of Kerala’s social empowerment agenda, has already created over 1.75 lakh livelihood opportunities through its K-LIFT (Kudumbashree Livelihood Initiative for Transformation) campaign, primarily benefiting rural women. The program will now expand its reach to higher education institutions, aiming to equip young women with skills for emerging job markets.
Addressing the state’s growing elderly population, the Governor highlighted the success of Kudumbashree’s K-Care project, which trains caregivers in providing quality palliative care. The mission has also partnered in disaster awareness campaigns, empowering local communities to better manage disaster-related challenges.
