**Johannesburg, December 8, 2024** – Day 3 of the second Test match between South Africa and Sri Lanka in Cape Town saw South Africa take control. Following South Africa’s first innings total of 358 (Ryan Rickelton 101, Kyle Verreynne 105), Sri Lanka, resuming their innings at 242/3, were eventually bowled out for 328. Pathum Nissanka top-scored for Sri Lanka with 89 runs in the first innings. Angelo Mathews (44) and Kamindu Mendis (48) offered some resistance in the second innings, but Dane Paterson’s five-wicket haul and contributions from Keshav Maharaj and Marco Jansen (two wickets each) proved decisive for the South Africans.
