Mon Dec 09 07:12:57 UTC 2024: **VCK Suspends Deputy General Secretary for Six Months**

CHENNAI, December 9, 2024 – Aadhav Arjuna, deputy general secretary of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), has been suspended from the party for six months. The decision, announced Monday by VCK founder and Chidambaram MP Thol. Thirumavalavan, follows Arjuna’s recent criticism of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party.

Arjuna’s outspoken remarks at a book launch, and other recent speeches, drew ire within the VCK, with many feeling his comments were detrimental to the party. Despite previous warnings from party leadership, Arjuna continued to publicly criticize the DMK, a key ally in the VCK’s coalition.

In a statement, Thirumavalavan explained that Arjuna’s actions had damaged the party’s reputation and undermined its credibility. The suspension, he added, was necessary to maintain party discipline and prevent setting a negative precedent. The decision was made after a meeting of the VCK’s leadership committee on December 7th. The VCK is a significant constituent of the DMK-led alliance in Tamil Nadu.
