Fri Sep 20 22:52:16 UTC 2024: ## Moorestown Holds Second Annual Sports Equipment Swap During Autumn in Moorestown

**Moorestown, NJ** – The Moorestown Department of Parks and Recreation, in partnership with Sustainable Moorestown, will host a free sports equipment swap on Saturday, October 5th, as part of the town’s annual Autumn in Moorestown event. The swap, located in front of The Cubby Hole on Main Street, aims to provide affordable access to sporting goods for residents of all ages.

Led by Moorestown High School junior Michael Miceli, a member of the township’s recreation advisory committee, the initiative encourages residents to donate new or gently used sports equipment. Collection bins are currently stationed at the Moorestown library, Church Street rec center, and Moorestown Hardware Store until Friday, October 4th.

“Instead of throwing out or selling things, we can give them a good cause for people who need them,” said Miceli. “It’s great for the community to come together and help everyone.”

The committee is collecting a variety of items including bats, rackets, mitts, clothes, skates, pads, helmets, sticks, clubs, sports footwear, pinnies, flags, bags, balls, and other gear. All donations, regardless of condition, will be cleaned and displayed for the swap.

“We saw the excitement last year when we gave away over 350 items on Moorestown Day,” noted Josh Bowers, another committee member. “It’s great to help kids get into sports that they might not have access to otherwise.”

The sports equipment swap will run throughout the Autumn in Moorestown event, ending at 3:30 PM. Residents can browse the inventory and take items free of charge, even without donating.

“Sports equipment is getting more expensive,” Miceli explained. “This event helps everyone, bringing the community together and making sports more accessible.”
