**KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 20, 2024** – Prime Minister KP Oli departed for New York today, leading a Nepali delegation to the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). During his stay, Prime Minister Oli will address the UNGA on September 26th, focusing on the theme “Leaving No One Behind: Acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development and human dignity for present and future generations.”
In addition to his UNGA address, Prime Minister Oli will participate in various high-level events, including the Opening Session of the General Debate on September 24th, a reception hosted by US President Joseph Robinette Biden on September 25th, and the Summit of the Future as the Chair of the Global Coordination Bureau of Least Developed Countries (LDCs). He will also address crucial meetings on sea-level rise and antimicrobial resistance.
Further enriching his visit, Prime Minister Oli will deliver a keynote address on Nepal’s democratic and economic progress at Columbia University on September 23rd. He will also speak at the John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum at Harvard University on “Nepal’s Prospective: From Transitional Justice to Climate Justice’ on September 27th.
The Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with key figures, including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, on the sidelines of the UNGA. He will be accompanied by his wife, Radhika Shakya, Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, and other government officials. Prime Minister Oli is expected to return to Kathmandu on September 30th.
