**Rain Threat Looms Over Crucial MI vs. DC IPL Clash, Relocation Requested**

Mumbai, India – A pivotal Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) is under threat due to impending heavy rains in Mumbai, prompting calls for the game to be moved. The high-stakes encounter, scheduled for Wednesday, May 21st at the Wankhede Stadium, carries significant playoff implications for both teams.

A victory for MI would secure their place in the playoffs, while DC desperately needs a win to avoid elimination and keep their hopes of finishing in the top four alive, which will allow them to control their destiny and winning their last match against Punjab Kings. However, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, forecasting heavy rains over the next four days. This forecast has cast a shadow over the match, raising concerns about a potential washout. A shared point scenario would leave MI with 15 points and DC with 14, creating a complex playoff picture.

Adding to the drama, DC co-owner Parth Jindal has formally requested the IPL to relocate the match to another city due to the high probability of rain. Jindal, in an email to the league, cited the need for consistency, referencing the recent relocation of the RCB vs. SRH game from Bengaluru.

“The forecast in Mumbai is for heavy rains and there is a strong likelihood that the game will be washed out,” Jindal wrote. “Just as the game between RCB vs SRH has been moved out of Bengaluru in the quest for consistency and in the interest of the league, it is my request that tomorrow’s game also be moved to a different location.”

Weather forecasts indicate a high chance of rain showers in Mumbai throughout the day, though the probability is expected to decrease in the afternoon. Despite the weather concerns, the temperature is expected to remain around 29 degrees Celsius at the start of the game, dropping to 28 towards the end, with high humidity.

The controversy follows recent changes to the IPL’s rain-affected match protocols. The IPL Governing Council introduced a new rule allowing an extra 120 minutes to complete matches affected by rain. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) CEO Venky Mysore expressed frustration that the change happened after KKR’s game was washed away due to rain against RCB.

The IPL is yet to respond to Jindal’s relocation request. The decision on whether to proceed as scheduled at the Wankhede Stadium or move the game to a different location will be closely watched by fans and teams alike, as it could significantly impact the playoff race.
