**Bengaluru, April 5, 2025** – Karnataka and Chile have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to boost collaboration in science, technology, and innovation, marking a significant step in strengthening Karnataka’s position as a global tech hub. The agreement, formalized during the Innovation Summit in Bengaluru, makes Chile the first Latin American nation to join Karnataka’s Global Innovation Alliance (GIA).

The GIA, comprising over 30 countries, aims to foster cross-border research and entrepreneurship. Chilean President Gabriel Boric, currently visiting India, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting Chile’s growing innovation ecosystem and inviting Karnataka’s startups to explore opportunities in South America.

Karnataka’s Minister for Information Technology, Priyank Kharge, emphasized the state’s strengths in emerging industries and the potential for mutually beneficial collaborations. He stated that the partnership would unlock new opportunities for both regions.

President Boric’s visit also included a meeting with Karnataka’s Governor, Thaawarchand Gehlot, to discuss broader bilateral relations and cooperation across various sectors. The discussions involved key officials from both governments. The partnership is expected to drive significant technological advancements and economic growth for both Karnataka and Chile.
