**Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, March 12, 2025** – Thousands of devotees converged on Kumbakonam in Thanjavur district today to participate in the Maasi Maham festival, taking a holy dip in the Mahamaham tank. The event featured a grand procession of processional deities from ten Shiva temples, culminating in a special ‘abhishekam’ (sacred bath) for the deities and a subsequent ‘theerthavaari’ (holy water ceremony). Devotees then participated in the mass holy dip. Following a deeparadhana ceremony, the deities were returned to their respective temples. The festival also included the pulling of decorated temple cars from Sri Sakkarapaniswamy, Sri Rajagopalaswamy, and Sri Aadhi Varaha Perumal temples.
