Thu Mar 06 17:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Mumbai Indians Secure Thrilling Victory Over UP Warriorz, Climb to Second in WPL

**Mumbai, India** – Mumbai Indians (MI) stormed to a six-wicket victory over UP Warriorz, propelling themselves to second place in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) standings. A stellar performance from Amelia Kerr (5/38) and a fiery half-century by Hayley Matthews (68) led MI to chase down UP Warriorz’s 150/9 with nine balls to spare.

UP Warriorz, languishing at the bottom of the table, had a promising start thanks to a quickfire 55 from Georgia Voll, who shared a 74-run opening stand with Grace Harris. However, their innings fell apart in the second half, managing only 61 runs from the last 60 balls after Voll’s dismissal. Kerr’s impressive five-wicket haul, including two double-wicket overs, triggered a dramatic collapse, leaving UP Warriorz with an insufficient total.

MI’s chase was anchored by a superb 92-run partnership between Matthews and Nat Sciver-Brunt (37). Matthews, who has had a mixed season, displayed her class, smashing eight fours and two sixes in her 48-ball knock. Sciver-Brunt continued her dominant form, taking her season tally past 300 runs. Although Grace Harris (2-11) dismissed both Matthews and Harmanpreet Kaur, the damage was already done. Amanjot Kaur and Yastika Bhatia guided MI to victory.

This win takes MI to eight points, just two behind the league leaders, Delhi Capitals. UP Warriorz’s hopes of progressing to the next round now hinge on results elsewhere. Their defeat highlights the significant difference in performance between the two teams’ second innings.
