**Hyderabad, March 7, 2025** – The Telangana State Cabinet has unanimously decided to oppose the Union government’s proposed delimitation of constituencies, fearing it will negatively impact southern states. The cabinet, meeting under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, expressed concerns over the potential loss of seats for Telangana.

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced the state’s opposition, stating the plan is detrimental to Telangana’s interests. An all-party meeting, organized by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and senior leader K. Jana Reddy, will be convened to formulate a joint resolution and representation to the central government. A delegation will then travel to Delhi to present this opposition.

Beyond the delimitation issue, the cabinet also approved a bill to recategorize Scheduled Castes, based on a report by Justice Shameem Akhtar.
