Tue Mar 04 16:20:00 UTC 2025: ## BCCI Tightens IPL Regulations: Stricter Rules on Family Access, Team Transport, and On-Field Conduct
**Mumbai, India** – The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a series of stricter regulations for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, impacting player conduct, family access, and team logistics. These changes, communicated to franchises via email and discussed in a recent meeting with team managers, aim to improve organization and professionalism.
Key changes include a complete ban on family members entering player dressing rooms, even on practice days. Family and friends are permitted to watch practices from designated hospitality areas. Players are now mandated to travel to practices via team buses, potentially in two batches to accommodate larger squads. The BCCI has also imposed new restrictions on practice sessions, limiting the number of nets available and prohibiting practice on match days and open nets. Fitness tests are also banned from the main square on match days.
Further, the BCCI has addressed on-field behavior, mandating the wearing of orange and purple caps for at least the first two overs of matches and during post-match presentations. Sleeveless jerseys are prohibited during presentations. Any violation of these new rules will result in warnings, followed by financial penalties for repeat offenses. The BCCI also clarified the number of accredited support staff allowed on match days, limiting it to 12, including the team doctor.
To ensure teams understand the new rules, the BCCI will hold an in-person meeting with all captains on March 20th in Mumbai, ahead of the IPL’s March 22nd opening in Kolkata. The increased stringency highlights the BCCI’s focus on maintaining a professional and orderly environment throughout the tournament.
