**Mumbai, India** – Popular Indian podcaster and entrepreneur Ranveer Allahbadia, known as “BeerBiceps,” is embroiled in a major controversy following his appearance on comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show, “India’s Got Latent.” Allahbadia’s comments about parents and sex, made during the show, went viral, sparking widespread outrage and leading to multiple police complaints across India, including in Mumbai and Guwahati.
The controversy prompted the National Commission for Women (NCW) to summon Allahbadia, Raina, fellow panelists Apoorva Mukhija (“The Rebel Kid”), Ashish Chanchlani, and Jaspreet Singh, along with the show’s producers. A hearing is scheduled for February 17th.
The Maharashtra Cyber Department filed a First Information Report (FIR) under the Information Technology Act, charging 30-40 individuals involved in the show’s production and appearance. Assam Police also launched an investigation, sending a team to Mumbai.
Following the public outcry and government intervention, YouTube removed the controversial episode from its platform. Raina himself subsequently removed all episodes of “India’s Got Latent” from his channel and pledged full cooperation with the ongoing investigations. He reportedly faced cancellations of some stand-up shows due to the controversy.
The incident has sparked a wider debate on freedom of speech versus social responsibility in online content creation. Several prominent figures, including MPs and actors, have commented on the controversy, expressing concern over the language used and calling for stricter regulations on online platforms. The debate has reached Parliament, with calls for new laws to better regulate social media content.
While Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani have given statements to the Mumbai Police, maintaining the show was unscripted, the controversy continues to unfold, with investigations underway and the NCW hearing approaching. The incident highlights the growing complexities of online content regulation and the potential repercussions for creators who push boundaries.
