Thu Feb 13 03:14:50 UTC 2025: ## Pakistan Clinches Tri-Series Final Berth with Record Chase

**LAHORE, PAKISTAN –** Pakistan secured a thrilling victory over South Africa in the third and final ODI of the Tri-Series on Wednesday, booking their place in the final against New Zealand. Chasing a daunting 352, Pakistan achieved a record chase for their nation, reaching the target in 49 overs with six wickets to spare.

Salman Agha and Mohammad Rizwan spearheaded the chase with magnificent unbeaten centuries. Agha scored 134 runs, while Rizwan contributed a crucial 122, their partnership forming the backbone of Pakistan’s successful run chase. The pair put on over 200 runs together, turning the tide after an early wobble that saw the loss of three quick wickets.

South Africa had earlier posted a strong total of 352/5 thanks to half-centuries from Temba Bavuma (82), Matthew Breetzke (83), and Heinrich Klaasen (87). However, their bowling attack proved ineffective against Pakistan’s determined batting display. South Africa’s bowlers struggled to contain the flow of boundaries and failed to pick up crucial wickets at regular intervals. Bavuma acknowledged the team’s disappointment in failing to defend their sizable total, praising Pakistan’s brilliant batting performance.

Agha was awarded the Player of the Match for his stunning century. He highlighted the ease of batting on the pitch and his desire to contribute across all aspects of the game.

The final match between Pakistan and New Zealand will be played on the 14th of this month. Pakistan will be seeking revenge after losing their first encounter against New Zealand in the series.
