Wed Feb 12 10:23:54 UTC 2025: ## Millions Bathe in Ganges at Mahakumbh’s Fifth Holy Dip

**Prayagraj, India** – The Mahakumbh Mela 2025 witnessed a massive turnout of devotees on the auspicious occasion of Magh Purnima, marking the fifth and final “Amrit Snan” (holy dip). Millions converged at the Sangam confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers, believing the ritual cleanses sins and ensures moksha (liberation) after death.

Authorities deployed a large security presence, including a special team from the ICCC, implementing “Operation Chaturbhuj” to ensure the safety and well-being of the pilgrims throughout the night. Officials were seen ensuring smooth operations and adequate facilities across the mela grounds.

The massive gathering prompted calls for improvements at other religious gatherings. Devotees urged the West Bengal government to emulate the high-quality arrangements seen at the Mahakumbh for the Gangasagar Mela. The success of the Mahakumbh’s logistical management serves as a benchmark for future large-scale religious events.
