**Hyderabad, February 12, 2025** – Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K. Kavitha has urged the Congress government in Telangana to deliver on its pre-election promises to women. This includes the immediate implementation of the Mahalaxmi scheme, providing ₹2,500 monthly assistance, and clearing outstanding dues of ₹35,000 per woman dating back 14 months.
Speaking at a Telangana Jagruthi meeting on Tuesday, Ms. Kavitha welcomed the free RTC bus travel for women but criticized overcrowding and called for an increase in the number of buses. She also questioned the government’s progress on other pledges made to women, such as providing 10 grams of gold and ₹1 lakh financial aid for poor families at their daughters’ weddings, and distributing scooters to college-going girls.
Ms. Kavitha demanded a concrete action plan for these initiatives by International Women’s Day (March 8). Failing this, she warned that Telangana Jagruthi would launch a movement to pressure the government into fulfilling its commitments to women.
