Wed Feb 12 15:57:40 UTC 2025: ## Telangana BRS Demands Recount of Caste Census After Flaws Discovered
**Hyderabad, February 12, 2025** – Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao has criticized the Telangana government’s recent caste census, calling it riddled with errors and demanding a re-conduct. Rao’s statement follows the state government’s decision to proceed with the census despite objections.
Rao, in a post on X, asserted that the survey’s inaccuracies caused significant distress to the Backward Class (BC) community and resulted in an undercounting of its population. He further condemned the state assembly’s passing of a resolution based on the flawed data, calling it unacceptable.
He demanded an unconditional apology from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to the BC community for the inaccuracies. Rao insisted that local body elections should be postponed until a comprehensive second survey is completed and the legally mandated 42% reservation for BC communities is ensured.
The BRS leader warned against a casual approach to the issue, stating that simply passing a resolution and deferring action to the central government is insufficient. He emphasized that the BRS and BC associations will not tolerate this “non-serious” approach and expect the Congress government to uphold its promise made in the Kamareddy BC Declaration.
