Thu Feb 06 01:41:19 IST 2025: ## Exit Polls Predict BJP Victory in Delhi Assembly Elections
**New Delhi, February 5, 2025** – Exit polls for the Delhi Assembly elections, held on Wednesday, suggest a potential victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Over 1.56 crore voters cast their ballots across 70 constituencies, with voter turnout exceeding 59%. While official results will be announced on February 8th, the exit polls paint a picture of a BJP government replacing the incumbent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
The election campaign saw intense competition between the BJP, AAP, and Congress. The BJP, led by prominent figures like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, focused on allegations of corruption and law and order issues against the AAP. The AAP, under Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi, highlighted its governance model. Congress, led by Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, targeted both the BJP and AAP.
Key election issues included the “Sheesh Mahal” controversy, Yamuna water quality, governance, law and order, allegations of voter list manipulation, and promises of free services. AAP promised free bus travel for students and financial aid for temple priests and gurudwara granthis. BJP pledged financial assistance for pregnant women and subsidized cooking gas cylinders. Congress promised a monthly unemployment allowance.
Reactions to the exit polls were varied. BJP MP Yogendra Chandolea expressed confidence in a BJP victory, attributing it to Prime Minister Modi’s popularity and the party’s hard work. However, AAP leader Somnath Bharti dismissed the exit polls’ reliability, predicting a comfortable AAP win. Other party leaders offered similarly contrasting opinions. The final results on February 8th will determine the accuracy of these predictions and reveal whether the AAP retains power, the BJP breaks its losing streak, or Congress creates an upset.
