Mon Feb 03 22:58:43 UTC 2025: ## Gaza Faces Severe Housing Crisis Amidst Slow Aid Delivery
**Gaza City, Palestine –** The Gaza Strip is facing a critical humanitarian crisis, with the lack of adequate temporary housing emerging as the most urgent need, according to the Gaza Government Media Office. Thousands of families are sleeping rough in freezing temperatures after their homes were destroyed during the recent conflict with Israel.
The office issued a plea on Monday for international donors and aid organizations, particularly the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation, to prioritize the delivery of tents and temporary shelters. The statement highlighted the urgent need for immediate action, emphasizing that securing shelter is the most pressing humanitarian concern.
Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have returned to northern Gaza following a ceasefire, only to find their homes reduced to rubble by Israeli bombardments. The Government Media Office accused Israel of violating the January 19th ceasefire agreement by hindering the flow of aid, including the promised 60,000 trailers and 200,000 tents. They also claim Israel is obstructing the delivery of equipment needed for debris removal.
While the World Food Programme confirms a surge in aid, official Antoine Renard noted that Israeli restrictions, particularly on “dual-use” items such as medical supplies and tents, persist.
The situation is further complicated by US President Trump’s controversial proposal to relocate the entire population of Gaza, a suggestion strongly condemned by Arab states as ethnic cleansing. Concerns over the durability of the ceasefire, which has a second stage yet to be finalized, are also mounting. President Trump himself admitted having “no assurances” that fighting won’t resume, while Israeli MP Ofer Cassif expressed alarm over the lack of progress on the second stage of the ceasefire negotiations. The conflict, which began in October 2023, has already claimed the lives of nearly 62,000 Palestinians, with thousands more missing and presumed dead.
