Sat Feb 01 15:05:50 UTC 2025: ## Smooth Jallikattu Event in Thanjavur Despite Minor Injuries
**Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu – February 1, 2025** – The annual Jallikattu bull-taming event held in Madhakottai, near Thanjavur, concluded successfully on Saturday with only minor incidents reported. While 35 participants sustained injuries, no bulls were harmed.
A total of 557 out of 699 registered bulls participated in the event, which lasted from 7:15 AM to 4:15 PM. Of the 358 registered tamers, 318 participated, with 11 being disqualified due to health concerns and 40 failing to appear. Injuries were sustained by 11 bull owners, 11 tamers, 11 spectators, one police officer, and one volunteer. Bulls came from various districts including Thanjavur, Pudukottai, Tiruchi, Madurai, Ariyalur, and Perambalur.
Local MLAs Durai Chandrasekaran and T.K.G. Neelamegam were among those who witnessed the event. Authorities reported the event proceeded without major disruptions.
