Fri Jan 17 14:14:51 UTC 2025: ## Weight Loss Clinic Ordered to Refund Customer, Faces Licensing Scrutiny

**Hyderabad, January 17, 2025** – The Telangana State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (TGSCDRC) has ordered a weight loss clinic, Kolors Healthcare India, to refund ₹1.05 lakh to a customer who saw no significant weight loss after undergoing treatment. The commission also raised serious concerns about the clinic’s licensing and operational legality.

The customer, a woman with a decade-long history of thyroid problems and obesity, had enrolled in the clinic’s weight reduction and cryo treatments. While the clinic argued the customer failed to attend sessions regularly and had signed a waiver acknowledging no guaranteed results, the TGSCDRC found this insufficient. The commission noted the clinic’s promise of significant weight loss (30.4 kg) despite the customer’s high BMI (44.1) and lack of evidence of necessary licenses to operate.

The TGSCDRC deemed the clinic’s practices, including enrolling numerous individuals with unrealistic promises, as an unfair trade practice. The commission warned Kolors Healthcare to obtain the necessary licenses and employ qualified professionals. Furthermore, the TGSCDRC directed an investigation into the clinic’s licensing and adherence to health and safety regulations, with a report due by March 17th. The investigation will be conducted by the District Medical and Health Officer and the Director of the Telangana Vaidya Vidhan Parishad. The commission highlighted that the clinic’s registration under the Clinical Registration Establishment Act for physiotherapy services did not extend to operating as a weight loss clinic.
