**Mumbai, India** – Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan underwent surgery early Thursday morning after being stabbed multiple times by an intruder at his Bandra residence in Mumbai. The attack, which occurred around 2:30 am, left Khan with six wounds, including injuries to his spine, neck, and hands. While initially reported as a burglary attempt, police statements indicate a robbery may have been the motive.

According to police, the intruder, who remains at large despite a city-wide manhunt, entered Khan’s home and engaged in a physical altercation with the actor. A staff nurse’s statement to police reveals the intruder demanded ₹1 crore (approximately $120,000 USD) during the approximately 30-minute incident. Khan’s family members, including his young son, were reportedly present during the attack. A nanny also suffered minor injuries while intervening.

Khan was immediately transported to Lilavati Hospital where he underwent surgery. Doctors have confirmed he is now out of danger and has been moved from the ICU to a private room, with discharge expected in two to three days.

Initial reports suggested a suspect was detained, but Mumbai Police later clarified no arrests have been made. However, on Friday morning, police detained a man for questioning who they believe matches the description of the attacker seen in CCTV footage. The man was carrying a backpack similar to the one seen in the building’s security cameras. Police are actively searching for the suspect, focusing on areas such as Vasai, Nalasopara, and Virar. Twenty police teams are involved in the investigation, which includes gathering technical data and forensic evidence from the crime scene.

Maharashtra’s Minister of State for Home, Yogesh Kadam, stated that no underworld gang is connected to the attack and that robbery appears to be the sole motive. While Khan has not requested additional security, authorities have indicated they will provide it if he does.

The incident has sent shockwaves through Bollywood and beyond. Fellow actors, including Shahid Kapoor, Kartik Aaryan, and others, have expressed their support and wished Khan a speedy recovery. Political figures such as Akhilesh Yadav and Arvind Kejriwal also commented on the incident, expressing concern over the safety of celebrities and the general public.
