**Mumbai, India –** Actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering after a knife attack at his Bandra home early this morning. The incident, which has sent shockwaves through Bollywood, involved an intruder who gained access to the building undetected and demanded Rs 1 crore (approximately $120,000 USD) from a house help.
Police have launched a massive investigation, deploying 20 teams to apprehend the suspect. According to authorities, the intruder, who appears to be familiar with the building’s layout, scaled a neighboring wall and used the fire escape to enter Khan’s apartment. He was first spotted by the nanny, Eliyama Philip, in the room of Khan’s younger son, Jeh, around 2:00 AM.
When confronted, the intruder allegedly attacked Philip, injuring her before demanding the large sum of money. Another house help, Junu, alerted Khan, who subsequently confronted the intruder. A struggle ensued, resulting in Khan being stabbed six times, including once in the spine. Khan’s spinal fluid leaked as a result of the injury. A third house help, Geeta, assisted in subduing the intruder before he escaped.
Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, undergoing surgery to repair the injuries to his hand, neck, and spine. He is now reportedly out of danger.
While CCTV footage captured the intruder fleeing the building on the sixth floor, his escape route remains under investigation. Police believe he used the fire shaft to reach the ground floor and exited through a rear door. The break-in lasted approximately 30 minutes.
Police have registered a case of robbery, trespassing, and causing grievous hurt. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities focusing on how the intruder bypassed security measures and gained access to the high-security building.
