**Mumbai, India** – Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was seriously injured early Thursday morning during a home invasion at his 12th-floor apartment in Bandra, Mumbai. The attack, which police believe was a robbery attempt, left Khan with multiple stab wounds, including one that required surgery to remove a 2.5-inch knife fragment from his spine.

The incident occurred around 2:30 am when an intruder, described as a slim, dark-complexioned man aged 35-40, gained access to the building via a neighboring structure and a fire escape. Khan’s family, including his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and their two young sons, were home at the time, along with five house helps.

The intruder, who initially targeted the youngest son’s nanny, demanded ₹1 crore (approximately $121,000 USD). A struggle ensued, resulting in injuries to the nanny and Saif Ali Khan, who intervened. The attacker stabbed Khan six times before fleeing the building via the rear staircase.

CCTV footage assisted police in identifying the suspect and tracing his escape route. A suspect has been detained by Mumbai Police and is currently being questioned at the Bandra Police Station. Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery to repair a spinal fluid leak and treat his other wounds. While doctors report he is now out of danger, he remains under observation.
