Fri Jan 17 13:17:50 UTC 2025: ## Auto Expo 2025: Electric Vehicles and New Models Dominate Day One

**New Delhi, January 17, 2025** – The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, running from January 17th to 22nd, opened today with a flurry of new vehicle launches and a strong emphasis on electric vehicles (EVs). Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the expo, highlighting India’s growing role as a global automotive leader and pledging continued government support for the industry’s development, particularly in green technologies like EVs, hydrogen fuel, and biofuels.

Hyundai Motor India launched the highly anticipated Creta Electric, while Ashok Leyland unveiled its premium entry-level Light Commercial Vehicle, ‘SAATHI.’ BMW India also joined the electric revolution, introducing its India-built, all-electric BMW X1 long wheelbase boasting a range of up to 531 km. Bookings are open immediately.

Suzuki showcased its e-Vitara, further demonstrating the commitment to electric mobility. The expo also features the debut of several global startups and EV manufacturers, including Vietnam’s VinFast and China’s BYD Motor, alongside Indian players like Ather Energy and Eka Mobility in the electric two-wheeler segment. JSW MG Motor is generating buzz with its Cyberster electric sports car and the luxurious MG M9 limousine.

Beyond the vehicles, the expo includes unique community engagement initiatives. Children from 25 Delhi NCR schools are performing street plays to raise awareness about sustainable mobility, organized by Education Through Theatre in collaboration with SIAM and Delhi Police.

While past expos featured significant celebrity appearances, this year’s focus remains squarely on the vehicles themselves, with the exception of actor Kartik Aaryan’s expected appearance at the Maruti Suzuki pavilion on January 21st. The expo promises to be a significant showcase of innovation and the future of mobility in India.
