Fri Jan 17 09:57:48 UTC 2025: ## Bollywood Debut Flops: “Azaad” Receives Mixed Reviews on National Cinema Day

**Mumbai, India** – The Bollywood debut of Rasha Thadani (daughter of Raveena Tandon) and Aman Devgan (Ajay Devgan’s nephew) in “Azaad” has received a mixed response on its release day, National Cinema Day. While the film, set in 1920s Central India, is available for a special price of ₹99, critics and audiences have delivered a less-than-stellar verdict.

The film, a love story between a stable boy, Govind (Aman Devgan), and a wealthy girl, Janaki (Rasha Thadani), centers around a horse named Azaad, belonging to a notorious dacoit, Vikram Singh (Ajay Devgan). While Thadani’s performance and dance moves are praised, the on-screen chemistry between the lead actors is deemed weak, failing to ignite any significant emotional connection.

Critics cite a weak script and a sluggish first half as major drawbacks. The romantic angle is also considered underdeveloped, and even the presence of Ajay Devgan couldn’t salvage the film’s overall underwhelming narrative. While the film attempts to portray a patriotic theme and the bond between man and horse, the execution is deemed insufficient.

Although the film’s music and background score receive positive mentions, and Thadani’s dance sequences are highlighted, the overall consensus points toward a lackluster plot and unconvincing performances. Negative social media reactions are already surfacing, with many calling the film “not good”. Even prominent film critic Kamal Rashid Khan’s scathing review on X (formerly Twitter), labeling it the “worst film,” has sparked online debate. However, counter-narratives on Twitter praising the movie exist as well. The film’s fate at the box office remains uncertain despite the discounted ticket price for National Cinema Day.
