**Coimbatore, January 13, 2025** – The Coimbatore Corporation has introduced a new approach to park and lake maintenance, deploying five remote-operated grass-cutting machines. The initiative aims to address the time-consuming nature of manual grass cutting, exacerbated by overgrown vegetation and staff shortages.
Each of the diesel-powered machines cost ₹1.5 lakh and will be assigned to one of the city’s five zones. A successful trial run was conducted at Kumarasamy Lake on Saturday, evaluating the machines’ efficiency. Based on the trial’s results, the Corporation will determine whether to expand the program by purchasing additional units.
