**Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, January 12, 2025** – The Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express will significantly increase its passenger capacity starting January 13th. South Central Railway (SCR) announced the upgrade from eight to sixteen coaches, boosting capacity from 530 to 1,128 passengers.
The popular train, launched last March, has consistently exceeded capacity, with occupancy rates exceeding 145% and 159% on its respective routes. The expansion includes fourteen chair cars (1,024 seats) and two executive class cars (104 seats).
To manage the anticipated increase in passenger traffic during the Sankranti festival, SCR has also implemented several measures. Fifteen trains have received additional coaches, and five new enquiry counters have been added at major stations. Around-the-clock monitoring cells, along with increased RPF presence, will ensure smooth passenger flow, particularly during peak hours. Ticket checking staff will work with RPF to regulate boarding and prevent unauthorized entry into reserved compartments.
