Sat Jan 11 17:39:46 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Unveils Ambitious Clean and Green Energy Policy

**Hyderabad, January 11, 2025** – The Telangana government launched its Clean and Green Energy Policy-2025 on Saturday, aiming to secure the state’s energy future and boost its economy. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, alongside Deputy Chief Minister M. Bhatti Vikramarka and other officials, unveiled the 82-page document, which will be in effect for ten years.

The policy leverages Telangana’s abundant solar and wind energy resources. The state boasts an average solar insolation of 5.5 kWh per square meter for over 300 days annually and ranks among the top eight states for wind potential (54,717 MW at 150-meter hub height). Currently, Telangana has a contracted capacity of 26,212 MW from various sources.

The policy projects significant growth in renewable energy capacity by 2029-30, aiming for 18,874 MW of solar, 4,330 MW of distributed renewable energy, and 2,528 MW of wind energy. It also targets the development of 3,805 MW of energy storage and 1,000 MW of geothermal energy, alongside 6,000 electric vehicle charging stations.

The policy’s objectives include ensuring energy security, providing affordable power, promoting renewable energy projects, developing energy storage systems, and fostering green hydrogen production. It also seeks to enhance manufacturing, attract investment, and create jobs within the state. The Central Electricity Authority projects Telangana’s contracted capacity to reach 49,104 MW by 2029-30 and 66,694 MW by 2034-35. The policy also identifies potential for pumped storage hydro projects.
