Wed Jan 08 10:17:08 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad to Host Socially Conscious Theatre Productions
**Hyderabad, January 8, 2025** – Actor and director Jhansi Laxmi will premiere two thought-provoking plays, “Tit for Tat” and “Purusha Suktam,” as part of her RangaYatra theatre festival on January 12th at Ravindra Bharathi. The plays, which tackle gender dynamics and societal conditioning, will subsequently tour Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, including educational institutions, with post-performance discussions.
“Tit for Tat,” a dark social satire, explores the male gaze and its impact on women, particularly within the Indian context of cinema. Featuring a diverse cast including a trans woman and a trans man, the play examines consent and challenges simplistic feminist approaches.
“Purusha Suktam,” a contemporary abstract piece, shifts focus to men, examining how societal conditioning limits them and contributes to mental health issues. This Telugu-language play aims to broaden the conversation beyond typical feminist perspectives to encompass men’s rights and the challenges of learned masculinity.
Laxmi, who has self-funded her previous theatre ventures, is seeking sponsors for RangaYatra’s statewide tour. Tickets for the January 12th performances are available on bookmyshow.com.
