**Kochi, Kerala:** Bobby Chemmannur, chairman of the Bobby Group, was arrested in Wayanad on Thursday morning, hours after actress Honey Rose filed a police complaint against him for alleged sexual harassment and online abuse. Police acted swiftly, apprehending Chemmannur at his resort as he was reportedly preparing to leave the state for Karnataka.

According to police sources, intelligence indicated Chemmannur intended to evade legal proceedings by fleeing the state and potentially seeking pre-arrest bail. This prompted immediate action by the Ernakulam Central Police, who launched a special squad to Wayanad, preventing his escape. Chemmannur had also reportedly planned to travel to Coimbatore earlier that morning.

Honey Rose, who had previously consulted with senior police officials including ADGP Manoj Abraham and Kochi City Police Commissioner P. Vimaladitya, filed a detailed complaint after receiving assurances of support. The complaint alleges sexual harassment, including lewd comments made both in person and online. The complaint also implicates around 20 YouTubers for using her images inappropriately.

Chemmannur, who had earlier issued a public apology on television channels, claiming his words were misinterpreted, was booked under Section 75(4) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for outraging the modesty of a woman and Section 67 of the IT Act for obscene electronic communication. Police anticipated that he might attempt to secure pre-arrest bail in Kochi, and if unsuccessful, go into hiding. The swift arrest was partly a response to this anticipated maneuver.

The arrest was a joint operation between Kochi police and a special squad led by the Wayanad SP. The speed of the arrest caught Chemmannur and his associates off guard; the FIR was registered and the police arrived in Wayanad within hours of the complaint being filed.

Honey Rose expressed her gratitude to the legal system for its prompt response. She stated that she had suffered significant distress for several years due to Chemmannur’s repeated harassment. The actress highlighted the support she received leading her to file a complaint and seek an end to the harassment.

The investigation is ongoing. Police are also investigating the involvement of the 20 YouTubers implicated in the complaint.
