Mon Jan 06 11:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Barcelona’s Olmo, Victor Registration Rejected Again by La Liga

**Madrid, Spain** – La Liga and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have again rejected FC Barcelona’s attempt to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor for the remainder of the season. The rejection, announced Saturday, stems from Barcelona’s failure to meet La Liga’s financial fair play regulations before the December 31st deadline, despite ultimately complying with salary cap rules.

While Barcelona eventually satisfied the salary cap requirements, the joint statement from La Liga and the RFEF explained that the players cannot be re-registered after their initial deregistration due to the missed deadline.

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick commented on the situation following a 4-0 Copa del Rey victory, stating that he had spoken with Olmo, who remains committed to the club. Flick emphasized the team’s professionalism and ability to perform despite the off-field issues.

Barcelona may challenge the decision in court, though previous attempts have been unsuccessful. The club argues the registration deadline should align with the January transfer window closure, not the end of December. The club’s ability to finally increase its salary cap Friday reportedly followed a €100 million ($103 million) payment for VIP seats at the Camp Nou stadium undergoing renovations.

La Liga’s salary cap system, calculated based on revenue, costs, and debt (approximately 70% of club income), has repeatedly hampered Barcelona’s player registration efforts in recent years. The club has employed various financial levers, including selling future television rights, to address its financial difficulties. These issues famously led to Lionel Messi’s departure in 2021.
