**Chennai, January 6, 2025** – Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay has criticized the Tamil Nadu Governor’s actions regarding the playing of the national anthem and the state anthem in the Assembly, calling them “childish” and detrimental to democracy. Vijay stated that the established practice of playing the Tamil Thai Vazhthu at the beginning and the national anthem at the end of Assembly proceedings should be respected. He urged the Governor, regardless of who holds the position, to uphold this tradition.

The actor’s statement follows ongoing disagreements between the Governor and the state government over the Governor’s address. Vijay highlighted that these recurring conflicts detract from the Assembly’s focus on addressing the people’s concerns. He also expressed his disapproval of halting the live telecast of Assembly proceedings, emphasizing the importance of transparent debate between the ruling and opposition parties. He urged the state government to ensure the uninterrupted live telecast of sessions.
