Mon Jan 06 11:31:55 UTC 2025: ## KTR Defies Telangana ACB, Accuses Chief Minister of Political Witch Hunt

HYDERABAD, INDIA – Former Telangana minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao (KTR) today accused the state’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of being a tool for political vendetta, referring to it as the “Anumula Conspiracy Branch” – a play on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s surname. KTR, the prime accused in a case alleging Rs 55 crore in losses related to the Formula E race in Hyderabad, refused to cooperate fully with the ACB’s summons today, citing procedural irregularities.

KTR arrived at the ACB office accompanied by his legal team, but was refused permission for their presence during questioning. He subsequently left, submitting a letter demanding details of the documents the ACB sought and pointing out that the matter is sub judice, awaiting a High Court ruling on a petition challenging the FIR.

KTR stated that he has faith in neither the ACB’s impartiality nor the Chief Minister, who himself is facing an ACB case and is out on bail. He claimed that ACB officials could not cite any law prohibiting the presence of lawyers during questioning. KTR ultimately gave his statement outside the ACB office, securing an acknowledgement from an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) before departing.

Chief Minister Reddy previously claimed that the Congress government’s cancellation of the Formula E race saved the state Rs 500 crore. He refrained from further comment, citing the ongoing ACB investigation and the potential use of his statements by KTR in court. The incident highlights escalating political tensions between the ruling BRS and the opposition Congress in Telangana.
