Sun Jan 05 01:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Homeless Shelter Residents Showcase Constitution Preambles at Bengaluru Art Fair

**Bengaluru, January 5, 2025** – Residents of Nirashrithara Parihara Kendra (NPK), Asia’s largest government-run shelter for the homeless, are showcasing their artistic skills at this year’s Chitra Santhe art fair in Bengaluru. The residents, trained by a joint initiative between the Karnataka Social Welfare Department and #ReclaimConstitution, are selling hand-printed copies of the Indian Constitution’s Preamble.

The project, launched in conjunction with Constitution Day commemorations, aims to raise awareness about the Constitution while providing residents with valuable livelihood skills. Approximately ten residents have received training in hand-printing, with plans to expand the program. The printed Preambles are also being distributed to government schools.

NPK, established in 1948, provides various vocational training programs, including sewing, agriculture, and crafts, to help residents reintegrate into society. The hand-printing initiative is seen as an extension of these efforts, potentially enabling residents to start their own businesses upon leaving the shelter.

Vinay Kumar of #ReclaimConstitution expressed hope that the Chitra Santhe stall will increase the visibility of the project, facilitating wider distribution of the printed Preambles and potentially expanding training to include other printing projects, such as cards and invitations. He emphasized the importance of not only commemorating the Constitution’s 75th anniversary but also embodying its values by supporting marginalized members of society. The initiative is hailed as a powerful example of living the spirit of the Constitution.
