Sat Jan 04 14:35:27 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh’s Araku Valley Shrouded in Dense Fog as Temperatures Plunge

**Visakhapatnam, January 4, 2025** – A significant drop in temperature has enveloped the Agency areas of Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district in Andhra Pradesh, with several tribal hamlets experiencing single-digit temperatures. Araku Valley, a popular tourist destination, recorded a chilling 4.1 degrees Celsius on Saturday morning, following a previous low of 3.8 degrees on December 16th.

The cold wave has impacted transportation, with drivers of APSRTC buses and jeeps facing low visibility, particularly on the Paderu–Madugula and Araku Valley–S. Kota ghat roads. Visibility is reportedly improving only after 9 a.m. Elderly residents and children are particularly vulnerable to the cold winds.

However, despite the harsh conditions, tourist spots continue to attract significant numbers of visitors. Other areas in the district, including Kunthalam, G. Madugula, Dumbriguda, and Paderu, have also recorded minimum temperatures between 4.5 and 7.2 degrees Celsius.

According to weather stations monitored by the A.P. State Development & Planning Society, the minimum temperatures varied across different locations, ranging from 4.1 degrees Celsius in Araku Valley to 11.7 degrees Celsius in Maredumulli. Many areas experienced temperatures between 11 and 15 degrees Celsius.

Experts predict that these cold weather conditions will persist until Sankranti (Pongal). The dense fog accompanying the low temperatures has caused reduced visibility in many areas, creating difficulties for transportation and daily life.
