Wed Jan 01 16:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Government Delays Rythu Bharosa Scheme Amidst Opposition Accusations

**Hyderabad, [Date]** – The Telangana government’s much-anticipated Rythu Bharosa scheme, aimed at providing financial assistance to farmers, is facing delays, sparking criticism from opposition parties. While the ruling party maintains the scheme is underway, the lack of clear guidelines and the ongoing debate surrounding eligibility criteria have fueled concerns among farmers.

Opposition parties have accused the government of deliberately delaying the scheme’s implementation and imposing restrictive conditions to limit the number of beneficiaries. They allege this is a deliberate attempt to deny aid to deserving farmers. The government has repeatedly refuted these accusations.

Agriculture Minister Tummalla Nageswara Rao addressed the concerns in a recent statement. He clarified that the government has yet to finalize the eligibility criteria for the Rythu Bharosa scheme, stating that the decision on which farmers will receive assistance is still pending. He emphasized that the government aims to provide support to all farmers who cultivate crops but admitted that the guidelines for excluding non-cultivating farmers are still under discussion by a cabinet sub-committee. A final decision, he said, will be made after the sub-committee’s recommendations are reviewed by the cabinet. He assured farmers that there is no need for concern.

The minister highlighted the government’s past investments in farmer welfare, including ₹7,625 crore under the Rythu Bandhu scheme, ₹3,000 crore under the Rythu Bima scheme, and ₹21,000 crore in farm loan waivers, along with bonuses for paddy cultivation.

Despite the minister’s reassurances, the delay continues to raise anxieties. The government’s initial promise to distribute funds during Sankranti (Pongal) has been pushed back. The absence of finalized guidelines is the primary reason for the delay, leaving uncertainty about who will qualify for the scheme. With the Rabi season underway and farmers incurring debts, the prolonged delay is causing significant distress among the farming community. While the government plans to benefit a larger number of farmers, the timing of the payout remains unclear. The ongoing clash between the ruling party’s statements and the opposition’s accusations leaves farmers in a state of uncertainty.
