Thu Dec 26 07:43:34 UTC 2024: ## Congress Condemns Police Brutality Against Bihar Job Seekers

**Patna, Bihar, December 26, 2024** – Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra strongly criticized the Bihar police’s use of force against job aspirants protesting alleged exam paper leaks. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, December 25th, saw police baton-charging protesters who were demonstrating against the Bihar Public Service Commission’s (BPSC) December 13th combined preliminary exam.

Ms. Vadra accused the BJP government of prioritizing self-preservation over addressing youth unemployment. “Lathi charge on youths who had their hands folded is the height of cruelty,” she stated, adding that the BJP’s only vision is “saving its chair.” She highlighted similar incidents in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, alleging a pattern of brutal crackdowns on youth demanding employment.

Videos circulating on social media appear to show police chasing and beating protesters, including women, although their authenticity hasn’t been independently verified. While police deny claims of injuries, protesters maintain that several were hurt during the crackdown. A case has been registered against the protesters.

Independent MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav has called for a Bihar bandh on January 1st, 2025, demanding the cancellation of the December 13th exam. The protesters continue to demand cancellation and a rescheduled exam. The Congress has joined in condemning the police action.
