Sat Dec 21 03:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Rangers Recall Rempe, Add Borgen in Bid for Dallas Win

**DALLAS** – Facing an 11-loss slump in their last 14 games, the New York Rangers are shaking things up for their Friday night matchup against the Dallas Stars. The team has recalled forward Matt Rempe from AHL Hartford and acquired defenseman Will Borgen in a trade, both players expected to inject some much-needed size and physicality into the lineup.

Rempe, a fan favorite known for his energetic play and willingness to battle, spent time in the AHL refining his game after a less successful start to the season. He embraced the demotion as a learning opportunity, significantly increasing his ice time and effectiveness in Hartford, where he played approximately 18 minutes per game, contributing on special teams. He’s confident that his experience in the AHL has improved his game, particularly while playing wing. While he anticipates less ice time in New York, he believes his improved conditioning and experience will allow him to maximize his shifts on the fourth line.

Borgen, acquired from the Seattle Kraken in a trade involving Kaapo Kakko, is expected to add defensive grit and mobility. While he struggled in Seattle this season, the Rangers believe his size and skating ability will bolster their back end, pairing him with Braden Schneider.

Head Coach Peter Laviolette confirmed both Rempe and Borgen will be in the lineup Friday night. “I do think we need some more size and a little more speed, a little more physicality,” Laviolette stated. The Rangers hope these additions will provide the spark needed to turn their fortunes around against the Stars. The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT at the American Airlines Center. The Rangers’ lines for the game are included in the attached information.
