**Jaipur, [Date]** – Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has launched a special campaign to repair potholes and improve road safety across the state, aiming to significantly reduce road accidents. The initiative, involving a total investment of approximately ₹2350 crore, focuses on repairing accident-prone areas to minimize casualties and property damage.
The Chief Minister has instructed the Public Works Department (PWD) to ensure high-quality work and timely completion of projects. A significant portion of the campaign involves addressing 40 potholes identified by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). These repairs, costing ₹812.64 crore, are underway, with 13 already completed. An additional 37 potholes will soon be repaired at a cost of ₹821.51 crore.
Furthermore, the state is tackling 176 black spots in collaboration with NHAI, with an investment of approximately ₹650 crore. The PWD is also addressing 117 identified black spots by March 31, 2025. The Rajasthan State Highway Authority is simultaneously working on improving 30 black spots at a cost of ₹21.72 crore, slated for completion by January. Additional road safety improvements on four roads are also underway at a cost of ₹20.34 crore.
Strict action will be taken against those who fail to adhere to the prescribed standards during road construction and repair works, the Chief Minister warned. The overall goal is to create safer roads and reduce the tragic toll of road accidents in Rajasthan.
