**Bengaluru, India (December 20, 2024)** – The fourth edition of the India Art Festival (IAF) opened in Bengaluru today, showcasing a larger-than-ever collection of art from over 350 artists across India. This year’s festival, the 30th since the IAF’s inception 15 years ago, features approximately 30 galleries and marks the return of the IAF Creative Excellence Awards.
Founder-director Rajendra Patil announced the revival of the awards, which were last given out before the pandemic. Two artists will receive ₹50,000 each, a memento, and a certificate to encourage mid-career and emerging artists.
A new addition this year is “Shaping Horizons: Karnataka’s Iconic Innovators,” a curated exhibition featuring 30 established artists from three generations. This dedicated space addresses concerns raised by senior artists about the demands of prolonged exhibition participation. The curated section showcases the works of prominent artists such as C Chandrashekhar, JS Khanderao, and Hemavathi Umamaheswar, amongst others.
Beyond visual arts, the festival includes musical performances and a film screening tracing the evolution of Indian art from prehistoric cave paintings to the Gupta period. Art students can attend for free with valid ID.
The India Art Festival is being held at King’s Court, Palace Ground, Gate No 5, from December 19-22. Tickets are available on BookMyShow and at the venue.
