**Patna, Bihar:** The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has cancelled the preliminary examination held at Bapu Pariksha Parisar in Patna on Friday following widespread irregularities and mismanagement. The decision comes after shocking CCTV footage emerged showing candidates looting and destroying question papers.
The footage reveals scenes of pandemonium, with candidates storming a storage room, tearing up question papers, and fleeing with them. The chaos, according to a police complaint, stemmed from a 40-45 minute delay in distributing the papers, exacerbated by overcrowding at the five-story exam center.
Candidates reportedly grew agitated when they realized sealed question paper boxes weren’t opened in their specific rooms. Rumors that the exam was cancelled further fueled the unrest. One candidate was even seen breaking the gate and brandishing stolen papers. While 5,674 candidates eventually completed the exam, attendance sheets and other materials were damaged during the incident.
BPSC Chairman Parmar Ravi Manubhai announced the cancellation on Monday, assuring affected candidates that a revised exam schedule will be released shortly. Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the extent of the irregularities and identify those responsible. The investigation will focus on how the situation escalated so rapidly and whether any negligence on the part of exam officials contributed to the chaos.
