**Hyderabad, December 14, 2024** – Tollywood superstar Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday, December 13th, in Hyderabad in connection with the death of a woman during a stampede at the premiere of his film “Pushpa 2: The Rule.” However, he was granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court just hours later.
The arrest followed an FIR filed on December 5th based on a complaint by the husband of M. Revathi, 39, who died in the stampede at Sandhya theatre. Her nine-year-old son was also injured. Police charged Arjun with culpable homicide not amounting to murder (Section 304B of the Indian Penal Code).
The High Court, however, granted Arjun four weeks of interim bail after hearing arguments that questioned the application of the culpable homicide charge. Justice Juvvadi Sridevi ordered Arjun to furnish a personal bond of ₹50,000 and cooperate with the ongoing police investigation. Two other individuals arrested in the case also received bail.
The public prosecutor argued against bail, but failed to fully convince the judge regarding the validity of the charges against the actor. The incident sparked outrage and large crowds gathered outside Chanchalguda Jail following the actor’s arrest.
