Thu Dec 12 17:44:44 UTC 2024: ## Chelsea Squad Flies East for Historic Conference League Clash
**Almaty, Kazakhstan** – Chelsea FC have arrived in Kazakhstan ahead of their Conference League match against Astana tomorrow. A 20-man squad, blending established first-team players with promising academy talents, made the lengthy journey for what the club has described as its furthest-ever European away trip.
Head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed the selection, highlighting a mix of senior players and Cobham academy prospects. Notable names among the travelling party include Pedro Neto, Axel Disasi, and Tosin Adarabioyo, alongside academy players such as Josh Acheampong, Samuel Rak-Sakyi, and Tyrique George, who are all seeking to build on their first-team appearances this season.
Several players with Conference League experience are also included, such as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (featured in every Conference League game this season), Carney Chukwuemeka (three European appearances), and Marc Guiu (who scored his first Chelsea goal against Noah). The trip also marks the first senior squad call-up for academy players Richard Olise, Kaiden Wilson, and Ato Ampah. Other academy players included are Kiano Dyer, Shim Mhueka, and Harrison Murray-Campbell, all previously involved in matchday squads. Harvey Vale, boasting five senior appearances, rounds out the squad after a strong start with the Under-21s.
The full travelling squad includes three goalkeepers, seven defenders, five midfielders, and five forwards. The match will take place in Almaty, a city further east than Afghanistan and five hours ahead of the UK.
