Mon Dec 09 04:09:53 UTC 2024: ## Noida International Airport Nears Launch with Successful Validation Flight

**Jewar, Uttar Pradesh –** The Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar is poised for takeoff, having successfully completed its crucial validation flight today. This test flight, essential for verifying the airport’s safety and compliance with regulatory standards, marks a significant milestone in the airport’s journey towards commercial operations, expected to begin in April 2025.

The flight rigorously tested the airport’s approach and departure procedures, runway infrastructure, navigation systems, and communication equipment. Data collected will be submitted to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for review. A successful validation flight paves the way for the NIA to apply for its aerodrome license, the final approval needed to commence operations.

While initially slated to open by the end of 2024, the launch date was pushed back due to global supply chain disruptions impacting construction material delivery. However, runway construction is now complete, and the Instrument Landing System (ILS) and Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) calibrations were successfully completed in October. The terminal building and supporting infrastructure are also nearing completion.

The NIA, located approximately 90 kilometers from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), is designed to handle 12 million passengers annually in its first phase, eventually expanding to 70 million. Airlines, both domestic and international, have expressed considerable interest, with IndiGo and Akasa Air already committed to operating flights. The airport’s integrated terminal is prepared to handle both domestic and international flights from day one. The NIA is expected to alleviate pressure on the increasingly saturated IGIA and serve as a crucial aviation hub for the National Capital Region and Western Uttar Pradesh. The project is a key initiative of the Uttar Pradesh government and is being developed by Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd.
