Sun Dec 08 15:12:58 UTC 2024: ## McLaren Claims First Constructors’ Championship in 25 Years Thanks to Norris’s Abu Dhabi Victory

**Abu Dhabi, UAE** – Lando Norris secured a stunning victory at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, propelling McLaren to their first Formula One Constructors’ Championship title since 1998. The win was even more dramatic given a first-lap incident involving Norris’s teammate, Oscar Piastri, who collided with reigning champion Max Verstappen, finishing 10th.

Despite the early setback, Norris dominated the race, claiming his fourth win of the season. This victory proved decisive, as McLaren edged out Ferrari, whose drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc finished second and third respectively. The result denied Ferrari a shot at the championship.

Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton finished fourth in his final race for Mercedes before his highly anticipated move to Ferrari next season. Verstappen, who secured his fourth consecutive Drivers’ Championship last month in Las Vegas, finished sixth.

Norris, who finished second overall in the Drivers’ World Championship behind Verstappen, expressed his elation after the race. “Papaya on top!” he exclaimed, referring to McLaren’s signature orange livery. “Congrats to everyone. Incredible. So proud of you all. You all deserve this. It’s been a special one. Next year is going to be my year too,” he added confidently.

McLaren’s triumph marks a significant resurgence for the team and a memorable end to the 2024 Formula One season.
