Sun Dec 08 19:08:15 UTC 2024: ## INDIA Bloc Leadership Debate: Consensus Key, Says Tejashwi Yadav Amidst Mixed Reactions
**Patna/New Delhi:** The INDIA bloc is facing internal discussions regarding its leadership, with varying opinions emerging from key member parties. While several parties have expressed support for Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee’s potential leadership, a consensus-based approach is emphasized by many.
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav stated Sunday that he has no objection to Banerjee leading the bloc, but stressed the importance of a collective decision reached through consensus among all participating parties. He highlighted the presence of numerous senior leaders within the coalition and the necessity for collaborative decision-making regarding leadership and future strategy.
This statement follows similar sentiments from other parties. Sharad Pawar of the NCP praised Banerjee’s capabilities, while the Samajwadi Party indicated support for Banerjee if a consensus is reached. The Shiv Sena (UBT), however, adopted a more cautious stance, suggesting a decision would be made at a future meeting.
However, the Congress party has downplayed Banerjee’s aspirations, reiterating its belief in its central role and highlighting Rahul Gandhi’s suitability for the leadership position. This comes after Banerjee herself claimed to have founded the INDIA bloc and expressed frustration with the coalition’s internal dynamics.
The differing opinions reflect underlying tensions within the INDIA bloc, particularly in the wake of recent electoral setbacks for the Congress in Haryana and Maharashtra. The upcoming meetings are expected to be crucial in determining the coalition’s future direction and leadership.
