Mon Dec 09 15:55:56 UTC 2024: ## Rajya Sabha in Uproar as BJP Accuses Congress of Foreign Collusion

**New Delhi** – The Indian Parliament was thrown into chaos today following accusations by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that the Congress party is colluding with foreign forces to destabilize India. The accusations, leveled by BJP leader JP Nadda, specifically targeted American-Hungarian billionaire George Soros and alleged links to the Congress party, including Sonia Gandhi.

The heated exchange led to multiple adjournments of both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. Nadda claimed that Sonia Gandhi, a member of parliament, is connected to an organization financed by the Soros Foundation, alleging this compromises national security. He demanded a parliamentary debate on the matter.

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge vehemently denied the accusations, calling them “lies” intended to distract from pressing socio-economic issues. He criticized the Rajya Sabha chairman for allowing the BJP to raise the issue after rejecting similar motions from their own ranks. Kharge also highlighted that these allegations damage the reputation of individuals not even present in the chamber.

The verbal sparring intensified when Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju echoed Nadda’s concerns, stating the alleged links between Sonia Gandhi and George Soros are a serious national security threat. The Congress party forcefully rejected this characterization.

This latest clash follows a pattern of BJP attacks linking the Congress and the Gandhi family to organizations funded by Soros, including the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), which the BJP claims publishes anti-India reports. The BJP has previously accused Rahul Gandhi of working with Soros and American agencies to undermine India’s stability.

The US government has responded to the accusations, stating that its funding of the OCCRP does not influence editorial decisions and that it is disappointed by the BJP’s claims.

The controversy comes as the opposition attempts to raise critical issues, such as violence in Uttar Pradesh and an indictment against Adani Green Energy. The ongoing debate highlights the increasing political tensions in India and the BJP’s strategy of focusing on alleged foreign interference to counter opposition criticism. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar summoned both Nadda and Kharge to his chambers to resolve the situation.
