HYDERABAD, INDIA – A woman died and her son was critically injured in a stampede outside Sandhya Theater in Hyderabad’s RTC Crossroads on Wednesday night. The incident occurred during a premiere show of the highly anticipated Telugu film “Pushpa 2,” when a large crowd gathered hoping to catch a glimpse of actor Allu Arjun.

According to Central Zone DCP Akshansh Yadav, the stampede resulted from a crush of fans who had gathered outside the theater. When Allu Arjun arrived with his security detail, the security personnel pushed back the crowd, leading to the chaotic situation. Revathi (35) and her son, Sri Teja (9), were caught in the crush and fell to the ground, suffering severe injuries. While CPR was administered, Revathi succumbed to her injuries at a nearby private hospital. Sri Teja remains in critical condition and has been transferred to NIMS hospital.

Police have registered a case against Allu Arjun’s team for failing to inform authorities about his presence at the theater, leading to inadequate security arrangements. The Sandhya Theater management also faces charges for negligence in crowd control and security measures. The charges are filed under sections 105 and 118 of the BNS Act. The DCP stated that the theater’s management did not inform police about the actor’s scheduled appearance, nor did they take adequate preventative steps to manage the large crowd. There was a lack of private security at the entry and exit points of the theater.

The incident highlights the dangers of poorly managed crowds at high-profile events and underscores the importance of effective communication and robust security planning. Police are investigating the matter and have vowed to take strict action against those responsible.
