Fri Nov 15 23:54:49 UTC 2024: ## Sanju Samson’s Stellar T20 Form Sparks Debate Over Test Call-Up

**Kochi, India:** Sanju Samson, one of India’s most exciting cricketers, is making headlines after a stunning century in the first T20I against South Africa. His recent performance has solidified his position in the Indian T20I team, even making him the first Indian to score back-to-back T20I centuries. However, the question remains: is he ready for Test cricket?

Samson’s inconsistent past performances have seen him in and out of the team. Yet, his current form has reignited discussions about a potential Test debut. While a Test berth is highly competitive, particularly with veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli nearing the end of their careers, opportunities may arise.

Biju George, Samson’s childhood coach and current Delhi Capitals fielding coach, believes Samson possesses the skills to excel in Test cricket. George even suggested Samson open for Kerala in red-ball cricket, highlighting his potential. He compared Samson’s style to Virender Sehwag, emphasizing that while such players might not consistently score big runs, they are match-winners.

“I wish Sanju would open for Kerala in red-ball cricket. Once he unleashes his batting in red-ball cricket, nobody can stop him,” George told Rediff.com’s Harish Kotian. He added, “This is Sanju’s second coming. He debuted nine years ago but didn’t get enough opportunities. But the track has changed a lot now. People need to understand that he is an impact player. Sanju, playing in the style of Sehwag, is a real match-winner.”

Samson’s recent success has sparked a debate among fans and experts alike, eagerly anticipating whether this impressive T20 form will translate into a Test call-up for this highly talented cricketer.
